what now

It is always something with typepad.  My picture is not showing up unless you right click on the little red x.

So just a heads up at the end of June my time is up and I refuse to pay 150.00 more dollars for a year of headache, so watch for me on blogspot or blogger. They have so much prettier backgrounds.

Ok through ranting.

new rug started

Yes I have started a new rug, so far I have a leaf and a pot hooked.  Didn't get much done yesterday we had a hook in at the shop.  The Ozark gals came up. Now, I know that did not sound like an amazing statement, "the Ozark gals came up," but what you don't know is they were trying to out run the weather.  We were having ,lots of very hard rain, but there area was loosing roofs and buildings. I was so surprised when they rolled into the parking lot at Saltbox Primitive Woolens. Just goes to show you can't keep a good hooker down.

We had so many wonderful rugs there, here are a few.

This is Miss Minnies, she had been to a Victoria Ingalls class, but she is a painter and I know she could have done this by her self, but it is always fun to go to classes.

What a great piece and I don't know the gals name who is doing this and I am sorry.

This rug is by Karen and it is torn wool rather than cut, and proddy flowers.  It was just so interesting and different. Something I would like to try.  I understand there is a teacher,of this style  I think Jane Hester.  Anyway very nice.

Nelda's colorful sheep purse.

Here is Sharon and Patty with the beautiful flowers Sharon brought out of her yard.

Diane's chicken rug, love it.

Saltbox flag whoops

Saltbox flag better. I really like this rug, don't know for sure whose it was, maybe Diane's.

Northern beans This was the greatest idea.  It is a burlap bag that beans actually came in and all this design was on it so Dina just hooked it. I think it is wonderful.  She is trying to locate the original company.

One last thing dessert.

Sheep cupcakes A fun time was had by all except of course for these sheep cupcakes.

Have a Happy mothers day.  Tomorrow i will show you my flowers that have already come.

Row after row after row.

This was a fun learning knitting project and I think I am going to really like the purse after it is felted.  Next step hot water and a pair of jeans to help agitate.  We will see soon.

100_0672

The black stitching across the top is acrylic thread that will not felt.  You have to stitch the top shut to keep it from rolling down and felting a big roll at the top.

You can see my little Yorke's foot stool to get up on his shelf to look out at the world and bark at the squirrel.

Our Yorkie started acting really spastic yesterday and my husband took him to the vet and they said he had had a stroke on the right side.  He is on prednisone, but he seems fine today.  I would think if he had a stroke he would be weakened on one side.  We will see.

Will post again when I get the purse felted.  I really enjoyed making it and may make a real small one for my hook and scissors.

It's May, It's Monday

Finally finishing up some projects.  I think I had to many things going at once.

Here is the shop rug all completed and ready to go to the Saltbox tomorrow.

100_0662

This is a quilt top I finished today. There is no rhyme or reason to it.  I had the blue rose fabric left over from an apron I made for my daughter.  We have a quilt ministry at church so this will be quilted and donated. I just started taking 5 inch squares of two different fabric putting them  right sides together, sewing up parallel sides, cutting into a triangle and sewing them back together in a square.  It was so much fun than I just set row together.  It was very enjoyable and I hope someone will be comforted by it.

Memorial Day when everyone from the camp grounds are going home after a long holiday, I am heading out to the camp ground for a week of hooking, quilting, knitting, campfire sitting. This is the project I plan to begin while there.

100_0665

I think this will be a fun log cabin and of course the applique will be in wool.

My next hooking project will be Pots of flowers and Friends by none other than my sister, Linda Brannock, It is a pretty big rug for me 48 by 20.5.  So I will be taking my time and enjoying the journey.

See you soon

Katie

Oh I almost forgot, my granddaughter Valerie took second in her taekwondo tournament over the week end.   She says she isn't going to participate in anymore tournaments but is going to continue on with class, because she wants to be a black belt.

Open hooking day.

Today,  Saltbox Primitive Woolens  was full and noisy.  What a great time, so many project and 5 new gals came.  They had been to the tea room yesterday and found out what goes on on Fridays and all came in.  They were a long time friends group having a girl week end.  One was already a hooker and 3 became new hookers. The other one is a knitter. She was making a afghan and it was 12 inch blocks. One of the blocks had a cable stitch tiny sweater.  It was amazing,  But that picture did not load into the computer.  Don't get me started on that subject.

100_0636

This belongs to the gal  out of the group of 5 who already knew how to hook. I really like the black stars.
100_0637

This is a new project of Patty's, she is hooking in #4 and #6, I've never hooked that small.

100_0632

This is a pattern Debbie bought off eBay, it is good sized, I like the way it is colored in for you.  Debbie will do a beautiful job on it even if she doesn't follow the exact colors.

100_0647

This rooster chair pad is just about finished.  Way to go Betty.

100_0649

Debbie didn't get much hooking done today, expectant mommies need their rest. Molly the Yorkie , not Debbie.

Enjoy your week end and try to stay dry.

Wednesday

Well, as you know I have been talking about this knitting class some of us gals have been taking. It will be a felted purse . I have been making a little progress on mine.  It is actually about half way done, and you can see the colors pretty well, so here it is.

100_0624

I think I will like it, but the fun comes when we felt them. since it is wool feltable yarn , it should be interesting.

Also in knitting class Monday my fellow employee Debbie gave me a wonderful, stack of 3 sisters for Moda 5 inch squares 48 in all   of Shangri-la.  Thank you Debbie.

100_0620

I'm working on a quilt out of some left over fabric from my daughters blue apron. It had wonderful pink roses, the fabric was barefoot roses by Tanya Whelan.  I keep making block and then it still isn't big enough so I do something else.  If I get it to a place where it looks coherent I will  take a picture for you.  I'm not much of a quilter but this  quilt I can't see,to leave alone. I have to keep running to the quilt store over at the next town, because I don't have a stash.  Well, I kinda to.

100_0629

Now I just had a thought, If I didn't always have this kind of stash, I could make my quilt smaller.

shop rug

Faithful and true sheep rug

This is the latest shop rug, for Saltbox Primitive Woolens,  I am doing.  Pictures have been few and far between, than I realized I can print them, scan them into the computer, more trouble, but at least I will be able to show you some pictures, so Idecided to get busy tonight, and what only one piece of photo paper.

So I will just tell you I went back to knitting class  and since I had ripped mine all out and started over I feel more confident of what I am doing.   Now I need to get 15 more rows on the needles so I can learn to add on a new color.

I am working on a little quilt but since I have no paper to scan a picture into the computer there is not since in talking about it.

Than my friend Debbie gave me  charm pack of Moda Shangri-la fabric. Beautiful stuff thank you Debbie.

We have had a bunch of rain and more coming.

Well, my main objective tomorrow is, Get to Wal Mart and get some photo paper.

See you soon

Knitting

Well, Monday I went to a beginner knitting class.  Now tell me , why would 5 women who are in the age range of menopausal to medicare, decide they want to learn to knit.  Let me tell you there was some belly laughing going on.  The mission statement for this group is" something bad just happened and I am afraid to move" translated," I've dropped  a couple stitches and don't know how to get them back".

I have a few pictures but of course not all wanted to be shown, so they stayed in the camera.

I think eventually you will see some felted bags on this blog. But it might be a bit if we keep starting over.  I will keep you posted.
